Thank you for visiting Sports Ticket Secrets! The genesis for this site
goes back to 1994 when I was an auditor for the accounting firm Arthur
Anderson. It was then that a co-worker first showed me how to purchase
Rose Bowl tickets for face value. At that time the Tournament of Roses
Association distributed a small section of end zone seats via the
ever-popular lottery system. Each ticket cost a whopping $48.00
compared to the $175 price of the 2006 Rose Bowl.
Without really knowing what I was doing, I mailed off a handful
postcards and forgot about them. A few months later the Association
notified me that one of my post cards had been "drawn from the thousands
of entries received" in that year's Rose Bowl Ticket Drawing. I happily
sent off my $97.00 and hoped I could get my money back. Fortunately for
me, Penn State was making its first Rose Bowl appearance since 1923, so
demand for tickets was very high. I sold those tickets for $325 each
and used the profits to replace our hand me down TV and VCR.
After that I was hooked. I spent hours and hours on the phone
compiling the ticket application process for everything from
Wimbledon to the NCAA Final Four. I eventually assembled this
information into a newsletter and sold it via mail order through
sports magazines. Remember this was before the Internet took off, so
postal mail was still the main delivery method.
Eventually I lost interest in my little mail order business and
moved on to other ventures. I didn't think much about it until many
years later. I had grown very dissatisfied with my current
profession and started working with a career coach. (I highly
recommend him by the way. His name is
Dan Miller, and his excellent
website www.48days.com is full of resources for finding the work you love
or starting your own business.) As a
result of my work with Dan, I completed my Super Bowl tickets ebook
and started selling it on eBay. It sold well enough that I created
www.superbowlticketsecrets.com, and eventually expanded into
this site.
My goal all along has been to empower the average fan, and I hope
my site will give you the information you need to catch a BIG game
in person!
